Yes SiGraybeard, the headline would suggest they asked someone from Cedar Hills Nursing Home to try a shot at a balloon. "Elderly man" indeed! (Especially since I am four years older than he.)
Not trying to take anything away from this incredible shot, or the rightly esteemed Mr. Miculek, but I don't think the bullet hit the balloon directly. The mark on the steel target is too low. The balloon was popped by bullet fragments as it splattered on the target. The balloon probably wasn't actually the target at all, just something to help the "elderly man" see where the flock the steel plate target that was a thousand freakin yards away was. Also give some idea what wind might be doing at the target.
I call BS. I’m not trying to take anything away from him either, but the physics are what they are. When bullets go subsonic they can do anything. Given the holdover required, he’d need some way to aim the gat. This was a carefully prepared stunt, and probably required a lot of luck and mulligans to pull off.
Great, now we'll have to listen to every Chairborne Ranger describing how he sooper seekrit squirl did this years ago, and will list his equipment in numbing detail.

Day-um.
The headline "Elderly Man" is stupid, but you've got to assume they have no idea who Jerry is.
And I don't think the fact that it's a Jerry Miculek signature model revolver matters much. It's that he's the guy pulling the trigger.

Jerry's done it before, so nothing new other than the 1000 yards. I know he'd done it at either seven or eight hundred yards before.
