Born in Quincy, so I'm a Sox fan. Not defending Bobby, but it looks like he was never meant to succeed. It kind of looks like he was picked to make folks forget about Francona, and spend the whole season being a Fall Guy.
I don't follow sports AT ALL (The Red Sox play baseball, right?).
But.
I turned on the radio to conservative talk on the way home yesterday and I heard a clip of a reporter who tracked down the coach WHILE HE WAS OUT TAKING A BIKE RIDE, flagged him down, and tried to get him to dish dirt.
The guy was pure, 120% class. Absolutely refused to say anything bad about anyone. Praised the players, praised the owners, praised the city.
So, I have no idea about how the team performed, why the coach was fired, or anything else, but I came away from it thinking "this guy is a true gentleman".

I don't follow baseball, but I can believe Greg is correct...
