Forgotten Weapons on "Assault Rifles"

Lawrence has a good post up where Ian McCollum from Forgotten Weapons delves into the topic of just what an "Assault Rifle" is.   Everyone thinks they know all this (I sure did), but they - and I - don't.  For example: Assault Shotguns and Assault Pistols?  Defined by statute.  I did not know that.

An "assault weapon" is ANY item used to physically assault another person. Other than that it's a pointless useless empty phrase. If I hit you over the head with a kielbasa than a kielbasa can be called an "assault weapon".

If the world actually understood what I could really do with my pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight .243 Bolt Gun with an El Paso Weaver fixed K6 they would be terrified. But they don't make em like that anymore.

No Mikey, they don't make them like that anymore. Any "real" wood and iron gun built before the plastic craze is expensive. Price some Belgium made Browning shotguns/rifles/pistols or even a tried and true Remington 1100 from days of yore.
