I almost missed my meeting this morning because the iPhone sent me to Alabama from Houston. Can't do this anymore.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a GPS mapping app for the iPhone? It has to do directions and ideally read them audibly so you don't have to get a ticket for texting while driving when it was actually trying to see the blue dot on the dumb screen. Which is sending you to Chicago via Juarez.

Google Maps app for iPhone doesn't suck, and will narrate your route if you want.
Since you don't want Google maps and you can't trust the accuracy of Apple's why not give Waze a try.
Isn't that like asking for .gov regulations that don't suck?
Try Waze.
It reads the directions, allows alternate routes, diverts you around traffic, and you can send a location request if you need to meet somebody...it'll take you right to them.

The new Google App is actually pretty good. I used it in Florida this weekend.
I dont use my iphone (work phone) for navigation because it brings so much suck to the equation.
The wifey uses a tomtom which rocks, and yes we have the house around the block set as home :-) (just in case)
I use the google maps on my android phone (personal phone) for maps as its the next best thing to the tomtom. Turn by turn voice directions, good accuracy, google maps navigation etc. Only bad thing is if going into parts unknown to decent cell service, you can lose your maps on the way
That is why I really see solid benefit to a purpose build GPS nav device like the wifes tomtom, and one of these days I will likely pick one of those up as well. Still the better moustrap in my book
Actual GPS units are pretty cheap - why not invest in a TomTom or Garmin? Although I do have to admit, sometimes even those can't find an address. Most of the time, though, my TomTom has been great.
I use tomtom on the iPhone and have no problem with it. Directions are accurate as well as distances.
