Will this give World of Warcraft a run for its money?

Must... resist... reading about Star Wars back story on the internet for three hours...

The kid who fell in love with Star Wars wants this to be an addiction. The guy who has been systematically violated by the franchise since worries that the battle shown in that clip was edited to remove the Ewoks. And Jar-Jar. And the bad dialog. And the horrible writing. And the poor acting.

Other than that, I'm keen to see how far behind I am on the system requirements.

If Jar-Jar is in it I wouldn't use a free copy as a cupholder.

Otherwise... Well, I've been pricing out a new computer anyway.

But Jim - what if you could kill Jar Jar? In particularly nasty, evil Sith ways?

I'm guessing that people would pay cash money to do that ...

Nope...WoW will stay the top dog BECUASE LucasArts is involved...

I played the original Star Wars MMO, called Star Wars Galaxies, back when it came out. The game was FANTASTIC. It was THE game to beat for any new MMO releases...

Then WoW came out, and, naturally, the hardcore gamers went there to see what the game was like. SWG suffered a hit in terms of folks bailing so as to be able to aford to try something new. LucaArts, who was getting a SIZABLE cut of the online subscriptions, decided to step in and dictate changes to the game so as to keep the positve cash flow going, and they made fundamental changes to the game...namely, they took it from a game that was heavily based on solo play and tried to woo the WoW converts back by changing the mechanics to REUIRE group play, because they thought that was the reason folks were flocking to WoW.

They reduced themselves to nothing more than WoW set in the future. When they did that, their core playerbase (who stayed with the game instead of going to WoW) despised the changes, and ditched the game too, and it suffered even more subscription loss.

From the way the screenshots look, and for what little is available on the Net about this new attempt, its nothing more than Lucas Arts taking another stab at making a group-based game set in the future...

They F***ed up 5 years ago when they nerfed a great game, and they obviously haven't learned their lesson. They won't even be a blip on the Warcraft radar...
