Yeah I know - hurricane season in Florida. Ian kind of blew past us a couple years ago and while it did have hurricane force winds here the rain went by pretty quickly. Debbie was the opposite - only 40 MPH gusts or so, but two solid days of soaking. They even had to do an emergency release of water from the Lake Manatee dam.
So yeah, it's pretty wet.

It was far windier up here in Gainesville, FL, than the last two times other hurricanes rolled over us.
More like 2004 when we got hit by 3 of the bastids in one year.
Well, things had been dry, so...
We've always gotten more rain out of tropical storms than hurricanes. I think in 2008 one them dropped two feet on us. The most I can recall out of a hurricane was like 8". Maybe 6".

Even as far north as I am Beryl ripped out roads and flooded main streets in mountainous VT.
I'm between the Kissimmee city limits and I-4. We got a lot of rain, but not as much as west of us (you). We watched the radar images showing the really bad stuff sliding northward on either side of us. Winds never got higher than some of the bad thunderstorms of the summer season. All in all we were very lucky for this one,
You got yours on this one. Hopefully you're now paid up for the next one and will get to watch the show from the outside. I've got a feeling these next few months are going to have radar on my second monitor an awful lot.
Beans: We came out of IHOP a few days after the last of 2004 and the place next door (think tourist three for $12 Tees place) was selling "I survived 2004" with the names of three of the four. I bought two. Threw the last one away just last month. Hopefully never again -- three right over the top of us. Neighbor and good friend loaded up and moved to Dallas between second and third ones. Never returned.
East Central Florida and only got about 1" (0.95" per my weather station) since August 1.
I got about 6.5" here near moss bluff. The winds up to 40ish mph.
Dad and New Mom are here in Illinois for the month of August (too freaking hot to be in Florida) and it was reported Orlando got about 6 inches..
BobF. The thing is, if you're going to be in a hurricane or tropical storm, Florida is the best place to be. We have the strongest building codes, strongest storm water mitigation, strongest utilities codes and our Nat Guard is seriously trained for it.
Texas, which gets hit more than us? Not so much. Louisiana, the catcher's mitt of the Gulf? Pshaw.
Just look at what Sandy did to NYFC. Us Floridians were looking at what was going on up there and basically, "Phft, pussies."
And it's far easier to live after a hurricane or trop storm without power than live after a blizzard without power.
