Rest In Peace, Sgt. Miyamura

His Medal Of Honor citation is beyond belief.  What a man.

Sorry mis posted to Christmas Waltz?

SGT Miyamura's family and relative were placed in an American Gulag the prisoners had to build themselves. For the crime of being Japanese Americans during WW2.

The vast majority of them never received a dime for the losses from being taken away from their businesses and farms (lost to more American Americans sad to say).

A few survivors got a little relief decades after the war.

Yet the 447th Regimental Combat Team "Go for Broke" Japanese Americans served with honor and distinction in the German Theater.

It is good that we honored this soldier who fought gallantly in WW2 and Korea.

But we should remember that our government has gulaged people for being unacceptably different. Patriots may be next.

Amazing that he survived ANY of the attacks... May he rest in peace.

A significant majority of Japanese in Hawaii had already aided Japan. The continuous screeching about how those stateside were treated rings hollow.

matism links?

As an amateur historian I've never seen anything aside from WW2 propaganda.

Aside from that history often repeats so don't be surprised WHEN, not IF that
" The continuous screeching about how those stateside were treated rings hollow." show up for our time in the gulags.

At least, no property of a citizen of these uSA is to be taken without just compensation. That included citizens of Japanese ancestry, even in time of war. If proved to be traitors or agents for Japan, in this example, that is another matter but no corruption of blood.
Another reason why citizenship is to be jealously protected.

I wish that was so Jamime

Have you never heard of the more modern version

Asset forfeiture or asset seizure is a form of confiscation of assets by the authorities. In the United States, it is a type of criminal-justice financial obligation. It typically applies to the alleged proceeds or instruments of crime.

Then you go to court to PROVE yourself innocent to try to get even a fraction back.

What does "corruption by blood" have to do with this? Curious
