Florida Hockey: 4-2 in last 6 Stanley Cups

Congratulations to the Florida Panthers - and particularly to Panther Center Sam Reinhart who tied a Stanley Cup record with four goals last night.  The Stanley Cup now returns to its rightful home in the Sunshine State.

Something is definitely wrong with a sport that is primarily played in the winter on ice covered lakes in northern climates, and has the championship in 5 of the last six years in sunny Florida or the desert of Nevada.

Long ago I volunteered to drive foreign trainees from Perrin Air Force Base at Sherman-Dennison, Texas to Dallas to watch ICE HOCKEY. Ice hockey in Texas?! And now even farther southward the Stanley Cup rests in Florida. Again.

I grew up in East Texas. In the winter we would put on our Sunday shoes and go 'sliding' on the frozen tanks. More than once we fell through thin ice. 60 years later ice skating in Texas still sounds very unnatural... I think the Democrats are involved in it somehow!
