The Democrats spent the last 4 years chasing the Great Orange Whale

I've been a bit startled by the unhinged reaction by so many Democrats to Trump's rather resounding victory.  Probably I shouldn't be - after all the lesson of Facebook (and most social media) proves the old adage that it's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than it is to open it and remove all doubt.

Sure, I've been wrong all the time in the past (click on the tag for polls - often wrong but at least I showed my work).  But when things didn't go my way it was a shrug and get on to what's next.  That's not what we see at all.

Sure, the Democrats never really talked much about issues that most people care about - are you better off than you were four years ago, that sort of thing.  Instead, for the last four years it's been OrangeManBad, and nothing but OrangeManBad.  Now they are standing amidst the destruction of their hopes as the Great Orange Whale swims off to the White House.

And it clicked about why they are losing their minds.  Herman Melville wrote about this 175 years ago, and Ricardo Montalban immortalized the greatest lines from the book.

Maybe it's time to reread that novel, and an exercise in understanding the broken political philosophy of the Democrats.  But then again, I don't think that *I* need to reread it.

They do.

Absurdum est ut alios regat, qui seipsum regere nescit.

It is absurd that a man should rule over others, who cannot rule himself.

"How could Trump have won? Nobody I know voted for him!" Or: "Don't Trump voters realize they are voting against their own best interests?" Between their hubris, their fanatical determination to stay within their echo chambers (and cancel anyone not sufficiently keeping up with the ever-changing party line), and their attitude that intelligence and insight derives only from the correct degrees from the select institutions, the progressive left has narrowed their scope of views to the point of getting the yellow dog vote and the pro-abortion vote. While that total is obviously significant, it will likely shrink unless the Republicans continue to earn their moniker of the Stupid Party. Time will tell.

Startled? Shame on you BP. These people have been running the govt for the last 4 years overtly, and the last 25 covertly. They've given us crap like militant feminism and homosexuality, they've been trying to mainstream pedophiles and child molestors, they fight for the "right" to kill their own babies before they're even born. We could go on: Covid, the war in the Kraine, the Afghanistan pullout, financial suicide, the pussification of society in general and the military in particular... how can you claim to be startled? These are not acts of a rational mind and they've been going on for years.

It's time to stop being startled, stop trying to negotiate with lunacy and get down to the business of caring for our nation, communities and families and start thinking about a future for our kids.

I told a mutual bloggeress acquaintance of ours with TDS that if she decides to commit suicide because of the election results - to please videotape it and send it to me so that I can poast it and laugh with all the other mean ol' conservatives and stubfarts when we watch it.

Don't be surprised if the screeching, sobbing and histrionics don't increase in volume and severity over the next 4 years. Perhaps the best thing to do is savour their tears - but concentrate on the serious business of rebuilding our nation, communities and families for serious people... and maybe trying to leave our kids some kind of viable future.

The Democrats are the party of feelings, feelings and blather. Logical thinking is in short supply.

Feelings and blather, with logical thinking in short supply... A fair description of most women... That's why you don't want one in the White House...

They need but won't get a policy reset. But resisting is the right move. The problem with conservatives is when we win, we go back to sleep. Leftists don't. For that matter, neither do establishment Republicans.

They need to become the 21st C. equivalent of the Whigs.

Alas, the Republicrats will probably beat them to the punch, and one thing the electorate has proven is that when confronted by a choice between Socialists, or Socialism Lite, they always go for the pure strain.

You've got a bare 4 years to set your houses in order for post-Trump America; anything more is a gift from heaven, and far from likely.
Don't squander it.
