Yup, what Alan said. But they don't need to plane. With all that waterline length, those puppies can HAUL! There's a lot more on the "plus" side of their officially stated speed of "30+ knots". The "little" 505 foot destroyer I was on would do 35 knots. Carriers are more than twice that length...

Displacement hulls can't plane no matter how much you push them.
Hull Speed = 1.34 * (LWL)1/2
If you know the hull length at the water line it's easy to calculate the maximum speed of a displacement hull.
