You think that's bad? Since 1967 when it was formed, the Arizona Department of Time Management has hired thousands of temporary workers twice a year and put them to work physically re-aligning Arizona with California in an effort to comply with Daylight Savings Time requirements.

It is a Herculean task, but stalwart, dedicated workers and skilled management have this down to a science now, and for many years the deed has been done with little or no interruption or disturbance.

Sadly, this was not always so. In 1969, a junior-level manager mis-read his compass and caused Arizona to be aligned with New Mexico. No one noticed for over a week, and the resulting confusion is still talked about around the campfires today.
