I'll never forget the first time I went to the airshow at The Planes of Fame museum in Chino, CA.
They had a low fly-by of a B-17 and FIVE P-51's.

Man....talk about MUSIC!

P51s give me boners.
Seriously...

That's sure a distinctive sound.

Ah, man...what a way to put a smile on my face! Now, if it was a P-38 making a low pass....

My apologies, that was Borepatch's link. Guess I know where I saw it now.

Was being the operative word,it's just as well we all live in a post democratic free world. Who needed it and those guys fought for nothing.

This is what short order genius can look like. 149 days from wet ink to first flight, and that only because they had to wait for engines. NIBG.

Thanks for the link, Borepatch. Quite a bit of traffic from here.

That's a sound I never, ever get tired of hearing. At the last air show I went to at Robins AFB in Warner Robins, GA, they had a P-51 done up with the red tail of the Tuskeegee Airmen squadron. The pilot flew the hell out of that plane, making several low, fast passes. Made my whole month.

That gave me an erection.

And I'm a girl.

That merlin engine, even if built by packard, is a work of art. Back in Sept 2010 in Duxford, England, there was a 16-plane fly by of (also merlin powered) Supermarine Spitfires. The fly-by was to commemorate the 7th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. "This as their finest hour."
