The Iron Law of Bureaucracy and the Democratic Party

I've posted frequently about The Iron Law of Bureaucracy here:

Pournelle's Iron Law of Bureaucracy states that in any bureaucratic organization there will be two kinds of people":

First, there will be those who are devoted to the goals of the organization. Examples are dedicated classroom teachers in an educational bureaucracy, many of the engineers and launch technicians and scientists at NASA, even some agricultural scientists and advisors in the former Soviet Union collective farming administration.

Secondly, there will be those dedicated to the organization itself. Examples are many of the administrators in the education system, many professors of education, many teachers union officials, much of the NASA headquarters staff, etc.

The Iron Law states that in every case the second group will gain and keep control of the organization. It will write the rules, and control promotions within the organization.

So how does the Iron Law apply to the Democratic Party?  Just like to every organization:

I had an interesting discussion over the weekend with an acquaintance of mine, a building contractor.  He's Black, and he and his family have voted in lock-step with the Democratic Party not just for years, but for decades.  Now?  Not so much.  He's so angry at this latest nonsense that he told me openly he's going to vote Republican in November.  He believes the Democratic Party is trying to manipulate him and "his people", deliberately lying to them in the expectation that they'll respond in blind obedience.  "They want me to jump when they say 'Frog'.  Well, this frog ain't gonna jump for a lie!"

He's not a veteran of military service, but he has some (of all races) among his workforce.  He told me their discussions about the matter on job sites have been really angry, with almost nobody believing the talking points being circulated in the mass media.  They're such obvious, blatant propaganda that they can't pass the "smell test".  Anyone with half a brain knows they're contrived.  They're such a clumsy smear attempt, with no evidence whatsoever to prove them except unsubstantiated, anonymous allegations, that it's almost embarrassing.

This made me think of Theodore Dalrymple's famous quote:

In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is in some small way to become evil oneself. One's standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control.

Now think on today's Democratic Party, withered by the Clintons and then the Obamas and now Slow Joe Biden.  Think about the obvious lies.  Think about how loyalty uber alles has shaved off bits of their partisans' souls, burned as offerings on the altar of someone else's political ambitions.  Think of the small death that takes place each day among those (supposedly) most fervent partisans.

It's no wonder that the Democratic Party is being taken over by Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Black Lives Matter, and Antifa rioters.  The Iron Law says that they're the ones who will rise to the top.

You see, all paths other than radical revolution are closed, at least for advancement.  Who even talks about John Kerry anymore?  And the media covers for all of these people so there is no possible correction.  The result is over determined, as Peter points out:

When even its long-term supporters can see that, and openly resent that they're expected to believe such brazen fabrications, then the Democratic Party has a major, major problem on its hands.

Sure does.  It's fixin' to go the way of the Whig Party.  Even with the industrial-scale cheating they're going to do.  It won't help them - not when even their "base" is leaving them en masse.

It's going to be a blowout, but the Democratic Party apparachicks can't allow themselves to see that.  Not if they have hopes for advancement in the Democrat Party Apparat.  Instead, they have to repeat the most obvious lies about this election.  Crude lies.  Lies that everyone knows are lies.

But lies that they cannot allow themselves to recognize as lies.

The Left used to call itself "the reality-based party".  That's quite funny, given how crude their propaganda is.

  1. I tend to agree BP. But whadda I know? They re-elected Obutthole when I was sure he’d get the punt... but for what it’s worth I can’t see anyone with a triple digit IQ and any integrity voting for them.

They will remain strong with your union and public sector snivel servant slobs...but your centre left and maybe centre right guys will need a new party.. Going forward, the Donks will be the party for sexual degenerates, unhappy feminist rage heads, social justice warriors and other turdies.

  2. It's looking like a perfect example of
    Conquest’s Third Law of Politics.

It states “The simplest way to explain the behavior of any bureaucratic organization is to assume that it is controlled by a cabal of its enemies.

  3. Over at American Greatness this morning: We all know why Biden is invisible but where is Harris? Good question. My conclusion is that the plan begins and ends with vote fraud (or perhaps a coup). Therefore no real need to actually contest the election.

  4. Glen, half of us don't have 3-digit IQs.

The manure has gotten too smelly for the upper third or so of the 2-digit group, and that's fatal for the Left and the Dems. The coming election is going to be a historic landslide for Trump. I'm guessing 60% to 80% of the popular vote, if he keeps the Dem machine from making more fake votes than they did in '16.

  5. We don't see Trump doing much to harm the Left, yet they treat Trump as if he's a threat to their very lives. He must be doing much more harm to them/good to us than is obvious.

Yet, the Dems aren't trying to win by appealing to the voters. Not even trying. They obviously have another plan, and it is obviously to find ballots in warehouses and car trunks until they win. If and only if Trump stops the election fraud, there is going to be a huge Trump-slide.

  6. They either go the way of the Whigs or we embark on a two-decade dirty war. What lies back of that? I dunno, but I doubt any of us will like it much.

  7. “The simplest way to explain the behavior of any bureaucratic organization is to assume that it is controlled by a cabal of its enemies."

That thoroughly explains the US federal government.

  8. The Left has always mangled the meaning of any word it uses. So even when the Donks used the 'reality-based party' phrase you knew that their version of reality and reality's version of reality would not match up, even in a Hollywood movie.

In other words, they have, are and will employ the good leftist tactic of subverting the language. Like the word 'liberal.' Which in normal speak means generous and open-minded and all-encompassing and all-covering. Like a liberal education used to mean science, math, language and arts. When spreading BBQ sauce liberally it means all over and you use half the container, not that you only cover half the meat on the left side.

It's so bad that I now refuse to call people on the left side of the spectrum 'liberals' as they are not. They are the Left. And they are the most shallow, ungenrous, close-minded, narrow-viewed a-holes that I ever have met. Their disease has infected too many nice people, from my mother to my foster-daughter (who voted for BJ Clinton because he was cute not because of his political views (which he hid very well.))

    As to this election...

I still suspect some whammy Late September or in October where both Slow Joe and the Ho are rendered, by their own party, incapable of surviving to November and some 'demigod' (from Hell) like Michelle O' comes sweeping in to save the nation.

Unless the delusion is even at the top, there's no way anyone can honestly think (well, we are dealing with Donks here, thinking is not permitted) that Joe and Kamala can actually, even if they win, be good puppets to be controlled. Barky the Lightbringer went off script too many times, and Joe under him kept spoiling Barky's plans.

No. I think the goal is to destroy the nation by widespread vote-by-mail fraud and force a coup backed by the Supremes led by RBG with Roberts siding with them in one of the nastiest 5-4 decisions ever.

Man, I just rambled around the whole political picture, didn't I?

  9. Biden's handlers must be kissing each other with joy over the riots. They all know that Biden will finish the election looking like the remnants of the Death Star over Yavin 4.

They had two equally horrible choices. They could have let the AOC/Sanders wing of the party win the nomination and get blown out in the election, also destroying them in the down ballot races in the second Census/Redistricting year in a row, or they could cheat Biden's shambling corpse into the nomination and hope to lose narrowly and save the House and maybe chip into the Senate a bit.

Both choices were horrible. If they screwed AOC and Bernie the hard Left would go after them, but if they let AOC and Bernie lead the party over a cliff they would get wiped out all down the ballot as ordinary Dems stayed home in disgust. They chose to screw over the hard left and hope for the best.

These riots are God's gift to the Establishment Dems. They knew that they'd get attacked for their shenanigans, and they knew it would be worse when they lost. They'd never hear the end of "WE WOULD HAVE WON IF WE'D RAN BERNIE!!!" So they need a ready excuse for the loss they know is coming.

Riots are that excuse. They're literally going to use the Scooby Doo Gambit.

"We'd have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for you rioting kids."

They need these riots. They need to (quietly) denounce them. They need to be able to tell AOC and Bernie "Our loss is on your heads. You rioted, the people voted for the fascist. You caused this."

    And it's going to work.

  10. It has always been my opinion that bureauocracy is the only truly human created life form.
