I must say that
I'm digging this meme. For those unfamiliar with it, back during the days when government policy encouraged off-shoring of manufacturing jobs there were a lot of articles in the press that laid off factory workers should learn to code.
Of course it is not as if then, or now, learning to code is a thing to be despised. It requires a mix of inherent savvy, persistence and imagination to be anything more than a plodder at it. And while it is not a guarantee of direct gainful employment it is a useful skill that can factor in to many other fields.
ReplyDeleteLess noble in the eyes of prior longshoremen and J-school grads? Maybe.
At least the latter are misguided in this belief.
