I dare say that I likely will go see this though.  Just call me an enabler.  And yeah, the tags to this post are a little incoherent ...

  5. His departures so far have been generally worthy, and some changes are inevitable when translating a book to film, so I'm willing to grant him some leeway as long as he keeps the quality up.

    Plus, as I understand it, many of his additions in this trilogy come from Tolkien's related works (Lost Tales, The Silmarillion, etc.), so they should work pretty well on their own.
