Reminder: don't ever talk to the Police

L'affair TJIC is but the latest in a lamentably regular string of reminders that the Police are never working on your behalf when they "would like to ask you a few questions".  Ever.

It's a crying shame, really.  I was raised to think that the Police were there to help.  That America no longer exists, and hasn't for a long time.

  2. Only now even if you don't say anything - that can be used against you too.

  3. You have to immediately say "On the advice of my lawyer, I'm invoked my 5th amendment right to remain silent. Am I free to go now?".

  5. I've been rehearsing this:

"Per Miranda v Arizona and Salinas v Texas I hereby invoke my right to remain silent under the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution; I will not answer questions or provide information until I have conferred with my attorney and my attorney is present; I do not consent to any searches or seizures. Am I being detained or am I free to go?"

  6. It always KILLS me when my wife watches her 'police procedural' shows...even the ones I like such as 'Bones'...people talk TOO much.

Heck...one of the things I got out of 'Unintended Consequences' is that you should never say ANYTHING...just sit there with your mouth shut.
