- The media hates guns, and anyone who uses or carries one. They'll try to take you down just for that. This may in fact explain 100% of their attitude to Zimmerman.
- The Media lies, especially about things that they hate (see #1). They will do a Zimmerman on you, i.e. edit 911 calls and refuse to report your side of the matter.
- Everyone already hates the Media. Having a video record of the situation will let you release video for jurors and (more importantly) the public (via Youtube). Who you gonna believe, the lying Media or your own eyes.
Of course, if you're filming yourself, make sure you don't break any laws. Duh. But if you do this, you'll cool the Media's jets just by your lawyer announcing that video of the entire episode exists and anyone in the Media who doctors the recorded evidence will be sued for everything that they're worth.
When the existing institutions are corrupt, transparency is your friend. Because I reject the "you're an idiot to get out of the car" argument. This sums it up:
Everybody keeps calling George Zimmerman an idiot for getting out of his truck and thus causing what followed. It was a benign decision spurned on by a dispatcher's request for information. So can we stop? And this explains a lot, really:
Or do I get to tell rape victims they shouldn't have dressed that way, or walked down that street, or been out that late?
Anyone see any riots? You should check out the cocktailblogging out over at that link. Me, I recommend drinking heavily and enjoying the decline.
I haven't seen or heard of anything around here, but I live in "flyover" country.
We don't riot 'til the bacon runs out, bitches.
Then you better lock up your hogs and load up your guns.
Good points all... sigh
ReplyDeleteHow about a link to the selection of wearable video cameras that can stream to the Cloud please. While I have seen some truly small, wearable, video cameras (some quite unobtrusive)I cannot find any that stream. I am very interested in getting one that would save my recordings to the somewhere on the Internet. If you know of any please supply links to their sites. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAll the best,

if I was a rocket scientist instead of a neanderthal I would invent one that mounts on the rail of my glock and has a laser imbedded in it.
ReplyDeleteI have "Enjoying the Decline". Helped me let go and do the historical blogging I occasionally indulge in.
ReplyDeleteThey will "do a Zimmerman on you"
ReplyDeleteHeh
Should be in the urban dictionary
I'm wondering why he didn't have a partner along. True, neighborhood watches are volunteer things, and there's probably not a lot of volunteers, but a partner to provide backup, call the cops, and hold flashlights/video cameras would certainly not have hurt things in this instance.

ReplyDeleteHe wasn't running a patrol. He wasn't intending to do "Neighborhood Watch" stuff.
Zimmerman was following his normal, weekly routine (which including shopping for his next week's lunch fixings on the same night of the week) when he saw something that seemed suspicious.
This case not only wasn't about the "Stand Your Ground" law, it wasn't even about "Neighborhood Watch" organizations.
Something like the dash cams we get such interesting Russian video from, clipped to or integrated with a billed cap. Make it solar powered or solar charged, maybe. The more expensive bit would be stream to cloud, with maybe a GB or two locally to buffer.
ReplyDeleteIt could work.
MSgt B - it's there already but it's defined incorrectly.
