Fear not, Citizen, help is at hand. The market is about to see introduced a line of WiFi shielding wall paper to attenuate stray, err, nocturnal emissions from Chez Vouz:
As you know, setting up a solid Wi-Fi password is never enough: Illuminati aliens can bypass such menial protection techniques. With this Wi-Fi blocking wallpaper, though, hacking into your home router is near impossible from outside the room, French site L'Informaticien reports.And if that isn't enough, there's WiFi shielding paint that that can put the "S" in your SCIF*. Because you can't have too much security, don't you know. Sadly, there's no word as to whether the paint comes in decorator colors or plain old Fed.Gov Battleship Grey.
As long as you cover your windows up too, that is.
While up to three different frequencies can be blocked simultaneously, the paper still lets through GSM and 4G signals, so I wouldn't take that tinfoil hat off just yet.

ReplyDeleteSCIF rooms are de rigueur here in DC these days. I regularly bid specialized sound attenuators and other HVAC bits to everyone from Government facility upgrades to big Corporations who are worried about security. You know you're Someone with a capital S if you've got a SCIF room in your house...and yes...I've seen more than one private residence come across my desk for bid.

ReplyDeleteUm, of course, that means that you won't be able to see out your windows, and everyone will be able to see in. But that's the price you pay if you want privacy.
Wire mesh embedded in the glass, or fine copper mesh.
