i agree with what he said about your carry gun - the one you plan to use in your self-defense if you ever need to. You'd better be prepared to part with it.
That's why my pistols are all function and no form - I don't care if they are pretty because I more or less look at them like disposable tools because that's what they are. If they are ever used - I mean, really, truly used - I'll likely never see them again. So I develop no attachments, and put my efforts in beautifying and such into my rifles, which I view as very much non-disposable.
