Stop giggling, that's terribly disrespectful to a bunch of Rocket Scientists.New research from NASA suggests that the Arctic warming trend seen in recent decades has indeed resulted from human activities: but not, as is widely assumed at present, those leading to carbon dioxide emissions. Rather, Arctic warming has been caused in large part by laws introduced to improve air quality and fight acid rain.
Dr Drew Shindell of NASA's Goddard Institute of Space Studies has led a new study which indicates that much of the general upward trend in temperatures since the 1970s - particularly in the Arctic - may have resulted from changes in levels of solid "aerosol" particles in the atmosphere, rather than elevated CO2.
I must say that I'm not convinced that these Rocket Scientists know what they're talking about, any more than those other Rocket Scientists. The climate has been both noticeably warmer and noticeably cooler than today, within the historical record. I quite frankly don't think that anyone has a model that shows what's behind the Medieval Warm Period, the Little Ice Age, and the current 300 year warming trend.
But the science is settled, or something.
Hey you deniers! Get off my lawn!
As the resident rocket surgeon, I'm going out in the road to burn some tires, just in case...
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. Especially so, since one of Bobo's new ideas is to beam polution into the atmosphere to prevent warming.
ReplyDeleteHow about just giving us good refrigerant and hair spray back? Kthanksbye!
