My experience was like yours - great. I recommend that anyone go to an event.

My first one, I learned a lot and came just short of qualifying. I blamed old eyes. :-P

Put a scope on for the second and did LOTS of dry fire practice before hand. Qualified on that one.

Prone is an important position because you can get so many points on the 4th stage that way. Keep playing with your position at home until you get it.Weetabixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06106614092497408546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6322916946732811685.post-11796649150924583942012-07-05T00:02:49.543-04:002012-07-05T00:02:49.543-04:00Great Article, Borepatch! I was an instructor at your shoot that day and yes, I do recall the T-Shirt field modification to the SKS. I was also blessed to have my wife and her girl friend attend as a student that day and ladies, let me tell you that there are few things more beautiful than watching a woman place 3 shots in a 400 yard silhouette. We look forward to your next visit to an Appleseed at Waco. Appleseed forces you to confront 3 things:
1.) Your attitude,
2.) Your skills,
3.) Your equipment

Thanks again for the great review.

Sincerely,

TravelPatriot, IIT3
Awakened by,
RWVA, Project AppleseedAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6322916946732811685.post-19335184032410196722012-06-25T12:01:00.219-04:002012-06-25T12:01:00.219-04:00Glad to read your followup to your initial post. ...Glad to read your followup to your initial post. Appleseed is really eye-opening and great instruction.
I also had a lot of trouble with prone position - I got the shot on the paper, but not many on the target. In sitting position I shot in the 190's.
We went through over 500 rounds each for the entire 2 days. You do much more shooting on day 2!
-- Mrs. DTAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6322916946732811685.post-56049456690314511772012-06-25T09:54:45.580-04:002012-06-25T09:54:45.580-04:00Another Appleseed is on my list as well. What's not to like?

I'd hate to be the guy next to the guy with a center fire though. 22LR all the way, for cost and to be neighborly. My friend shot the weekend with a 22 conversion in his AR and did better than I did.

As volunteers, the quality of instructor will vary and I had some nits with the weekend I attended. But they were nits. And, again, a weekend shooting?
