It certainly feels like an inflection point. While not really connected, the murder of Iryna Zarutska and the assassination of Charlie Kirk seem connected. They are more drips of the water torture eroding that is civic decency.
I think more and more people are thinking 'enough already' and that sentiment will start being much more forcefully enforced.
I've been thinking about this very thing since yesterday. I agree with Glen; WW1 was primed. It just needed a spark.. Ferdinand was that spark. Charlie Kirk's assassination for the HEINOUS crime of SPEAKING, may have just lit off CW2. If a person can't even SPEAK without fearing getting shot, then we need to ask ourselves if we still even have a country...
At the time nobody thought the Arch Duke's assassination was a big deal. The diplomats and politicians all went on their customary August vacations. Kaiser Wilhelm did his usual cruise on the Royal Yacht, so probably was not even reachable. He should have heeded Bismarck, who said if there were a European war it would be sparked by "some damn thing in the Balkans". But of course Wilhelm did not like Bismarck. Not liking someone is no excuse for not to listening to them.
Those of you on the right are really, REALY hoping that something in the shooter’s background will tie him to the leftist, liberal side of politics. Meanwhile, you’ll continue to deny and obfuscate the truth that this was one of your own. Just like the group that planned to kidnap Michigan’s governor Whitmer; the guy that shot and killed the two Minnesota legislators: the folks that marched in Charlottesville: the shootings at the LGBTQ nightclub in Orlando: the ‘peaceful demonstators’ at the Capitol on January 6th; etc.
I find it telling that all the former presidents, Democrats and Republican, issued messages of condolence, condemnation of the event, and calls to end political violence, while the current president condemned the violence but also expressed the point that those of the left persuasion need to under scrutiny and should not be trusted.
One only need to listen to the Left-leaning MSM who have fomented violence against the Right for nigh on ten years now to "prove (you) wrong." 'Nuff said.
