Having grown up during the Cold War, I got used to European leaders who, if not always friendly, were all serious people. Francois Mitterand was serious. The Iron Lady Thatcher was serious. Heck, even pinko Willy Brandt was serious.
Now Donald Trump lines them up like school kids.
It's arguable that the only serious European leader today is Vladimir Putin. Good Grief.
UPDATE 19 AUGUST 2025 16:46: HMS Defiant leaves a comment about Hungary's Prime Ministor Viktor Orban as being a serious leader. I 100% agree. I would also suspect that many of the leaders from Central and Eastern Europe are also serious. The ones in the photo, not so much.
Yep, we know who's the daddy...
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of sad that there really are only two European leaders looking out for their own people; Putin and Orban. The rest are militantly indifferent to what becomes of the people that put them in power.
ReplyDeleteI’m still laughing! Apparently our fart sucking swine minister here in Canada is deeply offended at not being invited to the talks! HAR HAR HAR!!! HAR HAR HAR!!!
ReplyDelete😆👍
I can kinda see his point though: everyone from Clown World is there. He got snubbed as he certainly has a place among that lot… 🤡
You guys make me happy.

ReplyDeleteIn 1947, and maybe in 1967, it made sense for the US to provide security for Europe. By 1997, that should have changed.
ReplyDeleteToday 480 million or so Europeans are worried that 360 million or so Americans won't protect them from 180 million Russians. And while Germany has done everything it can to destroy its own economy in the past decade, they have refused to pay for their own defense for decades before that. (In 2018 Germany didn't have enough rifles to outfit their entire army.)
When you consider that most of those western "democracies" have invited in (hundreds of) thousands of "migrants" and "refugees" who have set up their own enclaves (e.g. "no-go zones"), and that they have also surrendered their economies to the pursuit of "renewable" (and thus undependable) energy sources, it isn't surprising that they have become limp-wristed politicians incapable of leading their countries.
ReplyDeleteWe shouldn't be surprised. Western Europe is currently in "surrender mode" accompanied by the American left, more afraid of "losing likes" and being "canceled" than in doing the unpopular thing: standing up for principle.
When the UK comes out with all guns (155mm) blazing, there are apparently 14 of them. Beyond the profound lack of seriousness, JD is correct that we don't share values with them. The phrase "Free World" has become a sick joke.
ReplyDeleteThe Rothschilds own Europe (including Britain) and Europe does whatever their owners want done!
