Rest In Peace, Tom Lehrer

I may come as no surprise to long time readers, but I led a pretty intellectually precocious adolescence.  Part of that was listening to the very funny and sarcastic music of Tom Lehrer.  It looks like I wasn't the only one

If you've never listened to him then you're in for a treat.  His two most famous songs are probably "Poisoning Pigeons In The Park" and "Pollution" but this one is particularly fitting for those of us in (or near to) the Florida Space Coast.

Thanks for all the great times, Tom.

  1. I grew up with Tom's delightful ditties, much to my teachers' high distress. "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" was my special favorite! ):->

  3. Imagine Tom Lehrer for your math professor -- I am sure he was an inspirational lecturer and lots of fun in class. After all, Lehrer means teacher in German. Years ago I saw the play Tomfoolery performed in Boston, and the fellow who played Tom Lehrer nailed The Elements song perfectly. RIP Mr. Lehrer (he never did finished his PhD.) but he certainly was one of the wittiest and brightest people to come along.

  4. Don't forget his great work on the Electric Company. 'Silent E' and 'ly' are fantastic
