A Maryland High School principal was suspended several months ago when an audio recording of him making disparaging remarks about black students academic performance was released to the public.
Except, as he consistently claimed, he never made the remarks.
The school's athletic director had made the recording, using samples of the principal's voice and A.I. software. He then emailed the audio to people at the school from a throwaway account and let events take their course. His purpose was to get the principal removed the school because the principal was investigating the A.D. for misusing school funds.
The A.D. was arrested at the airport while trying to flee the state. The principal has been vindicated. This makes him a very lucky man, it could have easily gone undiscovered.
Nice to see the good guy win once in a while.
ReplyDeleteVindicated, but so what? The stigma will stick to the principal, follow the family and friends, and there will always be whispers by staff and administration at the school board.
ReplyDeleteWhat restitution? Back pay? Paid for lawyer costs? A big friggin public apology in front of the school and the parents by the school board and administration?
In my experience, the accusations are made full in the public eye, and the apologies are made quietly, alone, in a dark room.
Let us pray that for once the good guy won't have the stigma of the complaint follow him to his grave.
The tip of the iceberg, i fear...
ReplyDeleteGives one pause to consider what form justice would take here. Within the fairly small world of this school system the Principal will be ok, probably a hero. Moving elsewhere in education....could go either way I suppose, but would you ever want to work in a place that would accept the "Jussie Smollett's Truth" line of non reasoning?
ReplyDeleteBut to squelch this sort of thing and good, it will be necessary to put the Godzilla foot down on the guy who did this. If there are no consequences for vile acts then the risk/benefit ratio breaks in favor of Vileness.
STOMP.
Even if it gets reduced on appeal.

ReplyDeleteThere is so little REAL racism in the US (other than against whites of course) that they need to invent it all.
