Wolfgang had a favorite tree that he loved to lie underneath. We would go out at the end of the day and sit (we even called it "Sit Time" and he knew those words and what they meant - he'd get all wiggly when he heard them).
The Queen Of The World ordered a special gift for me for Father's Day. I put it under Wolfgang's tree.
Here's a close up picture.

Wolfgang
2012-2023
If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
It's been around 100 days now and his absence still hangs heavy. We're both still sad. He's a dog that will take a lot of getting over.
Gosh. I don't think you could have put it any better.
ReplyDeleteA thoughtful and caring tribute.
ReplyDeleteAgain, condolences and blessings to you both.
ReplyDeleteWolfgang made you a better man, that's what good dogs do.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was a nice a person my dog thinks I am.
Michael, I've said for a long time that we see ourselves reflected in our dog's eyes, not as we are but as we would like to be.

Dude, it's been 12 years for me and I still haven't forgotten and I still grieve.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately dogs don't live long enough. There is a very strong connection between dogs and people that only dog owners understand. My wife and I put our little dog down due to cancer 5 weeks ago. He was a small dog but he GOT IT! He was the best dog I have ever had. Jeez, the house is so quiet...
ReplyDeleteTruly a wonderful tribute, and the perfect spot for it.
ReplyDeleteI recently (June 9th) lost my Duke. Totally unexpected and very suddenly. Here one minute and gone the next. He was my soul and the emptiness I feel is like nothing I've experienced before. I've had other dogs and loved them deeply but this guy, he apparently OWNED me.
ReplyDeleteStill lose it completely from time to time and without warning. Something out of nowhere reminds me of him and it just hemmers me.
Dogs... They simply are the best. And to be so utterly CLAIMED by one, well... there's nothing like it.
A wonderful tribute to your Wolfgang. I have a tribute to the Dukester as well. He was a Valley Bulldog and an Ex-Con and I still find myself looking for him and sort of seeing him out of the corners of my tear filled eyes.
As everyone else has said, a beautiful, touching sentiment.
ReplyDeleteThat's a fitting and beautiful memorial to a good and loyal family member.
ReplyDeletescramgravyaintwavy and Boneman,
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your losses but know exactly what you are going through.
And thanks to everyone who left a comment. It means a lot.
