Want

Seen at Glen Filthie's place.  Maybe this is Tim Wolter's new deer rifle?

It needs the Shoulder Thing That Goes Up, though.

  1. The 7.62 x 39 ballistics should work fine on deer. Not military ball, of course. Perhaps a nice CZ bolt action carbine in this caliber? I have shopped for those, and may pick one up in a weak moment. I have a bunch of Lapua ammo for it, that is really too good to shoot through my AK, if that makes sense.

I don't think there is a lever action in this caliber made anywhere in the world.

  2. It's probably do-able, fellas. Didn't Winchester make a mag-fed lever gun? Just put a banana mag on it...an away ya go! 30 rounds of soothing .405 torpedoes!

  3. Looks like JM Browning was working on it many moons ago. I believe the Browning BLR has removable magazines, and is still produced.

  4. Glen,

I suppose you could make a magazine fed lever action, but it might have to be side loaded. This magazine would block the lever from cycling the action. Plus, the barrel needs to be in line with the chamber, this barrel is below the receiver.

  5. A classic lever action rifle would not work with a magazine - but a lever action design can be made with a long magazin. You just have to design an action that does not need such long lever movement. I just sold my last BLR last week so I can't check how far their lever moves but they are mag fed.

  6. Henry makes a magazine fed lever action - the "Long Ranger".

However, this reminds me more of Betty Lou, the "combination AK-57 Uzi radar laser triple-barrel double-scoped heat-seeking shotgun".

  7. I was thinking a mad scientist might be able to mod one of these, ASM:

I’d thought the mags were removable for some reason. Didn’t Winchester make an ugly ‘short throw’ lever gun in the 60’s? But as the fellas say... even if it could be done, it probably shouldn’t...😆👍

  8. Oooh. More deer rifle recs! Pre season we had trail cams up and on several of them the dim witted critters walked right up to the camera and apparently licked it. So..
I'll need to add a bayonet.
Of course all those deer got Darwined on Opening Day....
