Hammering the Idea

There was a time when children's playgrounds looked like this. The survivors were tougher kids.

These must be European playgrounds. Most of these I've never seen.

That is why we have so many people that clamor for safety. We are taught to fear everything from a young age.

The concrete tilted disk thing was at a social-housing estate in Pimlico, London (Churchill Gardens)

We didn't have monkey bars that high, but our thing when I was little was to get on the "big swing" (not the kiddie swing), crank your way up until you were about parallel with the crossbar...and bail out.
