Dealing With Reality

Glen Filthie asked in the comments, "Well ASM, what would you do?" in response to my comment that I am not in favor of an endless, pointless war.

It's not just what I would do, it's what I would have done.

I would have declared war on 9/12/2001.

I would have renamed the Department of Defense back to the Department of War.

I would have identified all  as many as possible of the sources of terrorism and sent the appropriate assets to eliminate those threats. That might have been quiet operatives making things go away. It might have been Tomahawk missiles, it might have been Marines or Army.

I would gain control of all the U.S. borders and ports of entry and established a wartime level of security on those potential weaknesses.

I would arm personnel on all U.S. military bases. It could be selective. It could be volunteers that undergo additional training. But I would not ever again want to read about a dying Ensign crawling out of a active shooter scene to raise the alarm.

I would look clearly at what the threats are, what the beliefs of those threats are, and then act to counter those threats. This could be everything from more carefully considering what individuals and groups I allow into the U.S. to Curtis LeMay style threat removal on a large scale.

I would not have my investigative services tying themselves in knots trying to not use the T word when talking about attacks. We would be honest about the source and nature of the threats.

I would end the occupation and nation building in Iraq and Afghanistan. We didn't win this war yet. The nation building is premature. We didn't negotiate with the Nazis in Germany or Imperial Japan. We did help them rebuild in the years after they unconditionally surrendered.

I would do this with enough force that for the next thousand years when some teenager popped off with a suggestion that he was interested in SJS, his family and friends would beat him until he changed his mind.

I would establish these policies in perpetuity. If they turned out to be inadequate, I would reassess.

Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.

A month or so ago I happened to catch the re-run about the Muslim bombers in '93 who made an attempt on the WTC with a truck.

What was America's response? Let more of these SOB's in without any real vetting. The leftards were hyperventilating over Trump's 'Muslim ban' which was mostly from suspect countries.

Some of this is blowback thanks to the criminal Bush family and Clintons as well or the Deep State. All are responsible for this current state of affairs.

From what I read and hear far, far outside that world, a necessary step is to get rid of every Pentagon staff member put there for at least the entire Obama presidency. Every war fighter in the Pentagon was replaced with someone more inclined to SJW values.

They simply couldn't do what you list. They're incapable of fighting. If you had someone who could fight like that, they couldn't overcome the inertia of the rest of the building to do it.

I remember after 9/11 a groundswell of people saying, "nuke Mecca until it glows" and openly calling for the kinds of steps you do. And as of today, they still haven't called the Pensacola shooting a terrorist attack. If you hear "workplace violence" like they did with Nidal after Ft. Hood, stick a fork in the Pentagon and all of DC. They're done.

The military should only have the ROE of 'Kill Everything, God will know his own.' Total war, surgical strikes, no where and no one against us should be safe. We should be able to make the Mossad look like cub scouts.

Strike, strike hard, strike fast, demolish, eliminate sources of funding, sources of supply.

Then leave a smoking crater and say to the world, "Who's next?"

Cartels, terrorist organizations, nations that harbor and pay terrorists and those who fight us. Target everyone, target them hard.

Semi-submersible not flying national colors? Sink it. With the people on it. Flying national colors? Pull it over, if it's involved in smuggling, sink it. With the crew on it.

Piracy? Sink them. Still piracy? Shell the villages and the swamps and beaches where they come from.

It should be the American has two faces. The friendly 'Hi, y'all' face, the one that helps build villages and water plants and schools and hospitals.

The other face? The war face. Below the American Flag, the killers and destroyers of the enemy.

Kidnap an American? Say hello to SEALs, or Delta, or a whole friggin Marine Expeditionary Unit. Or a battalion of Rangers or Airborne.

In-your-face.

It should be that an American should be able to walk anywhere, and the thugs and evil people will clear any issues out of the way, in fear of bringing widespread death upon them.

And. If you come here to the USA to live, you had best be ready to learn American, join in American, become American. Else, no entry for you. Refugee? Only if: You become an American Citizen, or you are here for training in civil engineering and in how to take their country of origin back, and then shipped back.

Tired of being the world's kicking boy

The military's job is to break things and kill others until they give up. NOT to be 'cops'... Agree with your approach.

OK, it's the Washington Post, but, as the result of a three year FOIA campaign:

"A confidential trove of government documents obtained by The Washington Post reveals that senior U.S. officials failed to tell the truth about the war in Afghanistan throughout the 18-year campaign, making rosy pronouncements they knew to be false and hiding unmistakable evidence the war had become unwinnable.

"The documents were generated by a federal project examining the root failures of the longest armed conflict in U.S. history. They include more than 2,000 pages of previously unpublished notes of interviews with people who played a direct role in the war, from generals and diplomats to aid workers and Afghan officials."

to be continued.
