“The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield, and government to gain ground.”
I remember getting a discount on my electric rate if I had an all electric house. Boy, have times changed!
Yep, times have changed... sigh...
I remember that. Was electricity ever cheap enough for that? They were sort of right about a lot of the appliances and such. And what person wouldn't still like one of those weather centers? I would. That 6 second electric oven was better than my microwave!Nostalgia. :-)
Some places in California, all-electric houses are becoming mandatory, because natural gas bad or something. You will have this great future, want it or not!Meanwhile in Tennessee, we're having gas run to the house so we can have a gas cooktop, because smoothtop electrics have lousy throttle response. (We didn't splurge on a property with a private gas well, but at least we can get utility gas.)... Hey. If it's all-electric, how come it still uses charcoal and logs?
The house we bought here two years ago is "All Electric". We don't even have a gas main on our street due to some legislation Jimmuh Cahtear got rammed through. It's clean and quiet, and since we have a top-of-the-line super whizz-bang electric stove, it's much easier to cook with than it used to be.*I* can even use it, and that's saying something for an electric stove. But Lordy, is it expen$ive!
Ah well, nostalgia isn't what it used to be ...
