Gun Control and 2020

Let's start with Pr. Trump's promise first.

Now, Scooter, go ahead and sign any, and I mean any, gun control legislation that infringes on the 2nd Amendment and you will hand the White House to the Democrats in 2020.

Because you were the last hope. The last one that promised something different. If there is no difference between the parties, no reason to support the supposed right over the screaming insanity that the Democrats now represent, I will go back to voting 3rd party.

How many people won't bother to vote at all?

You want to ensure your victory? Make a speech. This week. Reiterate your support for my rights. Encourage every gun owner to write their Senators and Representatives. Establish a nationwide "Support the Bill of Rights" campaign.

Or not.

Unless I misunderstand the situation, Trump is considering gun control. The Donks have all come out pushing all out bans. If that is the case Trump is the better bet for the gun owner...right? Or am I missing something?

Personally I think Trump is just posturing. Up here in Canada the biggest problem with gun legislation is that nobody is complying with it, and nobody is enforcing it.

George Bush (1) famously made the "Read my lips, no news taxes" promise. Then he signed new tax legislation. He got beat with that all the way to a losing election.

I can see it coming.

I understand your feelings, but ANY third party vote is a vote for the democrats and you KNOW it. PRAY that he does the right thing.

Remember how he "caved" on amnesty, sitting with Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi? Remember how happy those two were when they left the meeting? What happened with Amnesty?

Bupkis.

Me, I'll wait and see how this plays out. There's plenty of time for that.

Gorges Smythe,

Yes indeed. Any vote for a 3rd party is the same as not voting, except for the protest value. But if the GOP caves on the 2nd Amendment, then it does not matter any more. They both over spend. They both can't fix the infrastructure, the cities, education, the borders. I voted for Republicans on 2nd Amendment grounds, picking the one thing that was important to me. Let me down on this and I have no reason left to vote for you.

Don't think I'm alone on this, either.

+1 what ASM826 said. All of it.

Wait. One thing about Trump is that he dispenses a LOT of chaff, enough that it sometimes confuses his supporters. If he actually does this, I have a problem but there is time. Warnings are OK.
