I am not a lawyer, but I do think that perjury is grounds to deny a person appointment to the highest Law Enforcement post in the land.Barr’s history as an enemy of the Second Amendment goes back a long way.Consider that in 1991 — in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee — he endorsed semi-auto bans, magazine bans, and background checks. Said Barr:On the assault weapon front, the proposal before us is the DeConcini amendment. And I think … I would support both the Brady Bill waiting period and the DeConcini amendment [semi-auto ban], provided that they were parts of a broader and more comprehensive crime bill that included … very tough provisions on the use of firearms in crimes and illegal purchase and trading in firearms…Barr went on to endorse a comprehensive magazine ban as well.Amazingly, when speaking before the Senate on Tuesday, Barr may have perjured himself by denying he ever supported a semi-auto ban.
Donald Trump needs to walk this back. Gun Owners are a core constituency of his, and this guy's history with the Brady Bill and Ruby Ridge is a huge F-You to gun owners.
I agree, but I doubt if it happens.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, just maybe, this is a sacrificial appointment. He may, please I hope so, be serving up someone to let the Dems chew them up, so he can withdraw the appointment, and toss someone else on the inquisitional barbecue.
ReplyDeleteI hope so. Sorry, anyone associated with Horiuchi is tainted for life.
Beans,
ReplyDeleteyeah, they were so pleased with Horiuchi's performance at Ruby Ridge, that they sent him to the barbecue at the Branch Dividian compound. BTW, experts in his field concluded that the wife was his actual target, and it was his spotter that wounded the husband at the shed entrance. She was thought to be the real power in the family, hence her targeting.
Assassination is a political tool.
ReplyDeleteIt works.
There are text books written about the subject (mine were, unfortunately, lost in a terrible canoe accident many years ago along with a half-inch thick copper sheet, an infrared sensor, and my college chemistry books).
Whether assasination is government sponsored or an individual's twist of "One man. One vote" it is a powerful tool.
From the dagger to the drone it Is a powerful political tool.
And it works.
BTW, the VC political officers recommend the knife over the gun or bomb due to reducing collateral damage to minimize fomenting anger in the families and associates of untargeted/unintentional victims.
But I digress: The topic of the post was Barr's qualification to serve.
I agree with Beans. Anyone associated with Horiuchi, Ruby Ridge, Waco, and thusly the FBI and DOJ in these operations is tainted for life.
Barr was willing to use assassination as a tool to expedite a solution to problem he and his had created at Ruby Ridge.
His stand on our rights under the 2nd Amendment disqualify him.
"...shall not be infringed." When words used to mean something.
