Gun Control

The 2nd Amendment, and the underlying inalienable right to self defense, being what it is, gun control is unconstitutional. All of it. I would roll it all back past the 1934 Gun Control Act. No lists. No watchdogs. No limits on design or rate of fire.

But what about the felons? What about mass murderers? What about *insert your favorite boogeyman here*?

Blink. Blink.

I am unmoved. The criminal behavior of others has no impact on my rights. They already have guns. They will continue to have guns. Either imprison them, execute them, or accept that they have guns. With enough gun control, the honest and the law abiding will disarm. Then there are two groups with guns. Criminals and the government agents.

The Dems, having taken some control, will be trotting out a big gun control bill. There will be a well orchestrated serendipitous coincidental mass shooting during the debate of this bill. The question of whether they have the Constitutional power to pass this law without an amendment will never come up. If it doesn't pass, they will try again. Like death and taxes, the one thing you can count on is more gun control.
"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined.... The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun."
- Patrick Henry, Speech to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 5, 1778

Doesn't go far enough.

The British were marching on Lexington and Concord in 1775 to seize not only muskets and powder, but also field artillery and shot.

So crew-served weapons and artillery pieces are covered also.

All or nothing.

Now imagine the underpants stains likely in Congress and 50 state houses, if the basket of Deplorables had the capability to wheel up in technicals with .50 cals, and howitzers.

All gun control is unconstitutional. If convicted felons are too dangerous to have weapons and too untrustworthy to vote, then why are they not still in prison?

As broadly as the first amendment is interpreted, the same question could be asked, what about Hitler and Mein Kampf? What about Marx and his bilge? What about that website, Storm Front? Der Sturmer? Every enumerated constitutional right should be strict scrutiny, bar none. Intermediate scrutiny and rational basis (any non-risible reason for the law means it stays) are a stain on the US Constitution.

Aesop: What would the swamp do if a few thousand armed and angry Citizens did just that? Cause for thought.

McChuck: I would add "or dead" after "...still in prison?"

Windy Wilson: I doubt that there is any portion of the Constitution that has been and continues to be scrutinized as deeply or reviewed as much as the Second Amendment. Keeping weapons, for any reason or use, is a Right from God, not politicians.

Period.

WW - What, you mean there are federal controls over owning Hitler's or Marx's Bilge Wastes? No... Last book store I went into in a college town (think radical leftist) I could find both books for sale.

There's no control over 1st A issues, why should there be controls over 2st A?
Shall Not Be Infringed seems to be a pretty darned easy statement to follow. Don't infringe my right to have arms. Guns, Bows, Crossbows, swords, pikes, axes, cannon, daggers, spears, maces, howitzers, mortars, rockets, ammunition, ammo reloading supplies, arrows, grenades, a vintage fighter jet (with guns because 'Murica!!!!) all are originally allowed under the Founding Father's version of the 2nd Amendment. Heck, if I could afford it, I could buy a ship and arm it. Yay me. Because "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED."

Those 4 words are the plainest spoken words in the whole original bill of rights. Yet they are the ones most molested, abused, refused, ignored, down right violated.

To sound really stupid rednecky, but correct: Arms Control means being able to hit your target.
