"No New Taxes"

Those of old enough to remember Bush The Elder's pronouncement, "Read my lips, no new taxes", are old enough to remember what happened when he failed to deliver on the promise so that he could make nice with Democrats in the Senate. That promise had been instrumental in getting him elected. Breaking it removed any chance he would get re-elected.

Where I live, a man's word is all he has. Trump promised. If he fails to deliver, he will pay the price with people that will not trust him twice. They may not vote for a Democrat, but they will just stay home.

Yes.

He's given it his best and isn't done yet. Anyone who stays home from an election is a fool and might as well go vote for the worst candidate, because that's usually the outcome of such thinking anyway.

What irritates me the most about this is that he was showing signs of getting along. Then a pundit said if he doesn't get his wall, he is a failed President. This damaged his fragile ego, and so he decides to veto the deal he at first said he was OK with. This is a big middle finger to the families of those people affected by the government shutdown.

I wouldn't be so quick to jump on him. This isn't about the man, ASM, it's about the nation and us too. The reality is that easily half the country is dead set against the stuff guys like you and I want. They wanted someone like Hillary running the show. The last idiot they voted in spent his time golfing and ginning up race riots. The deep state is entirely against him.

I'm no expert on American politics but it sounds like he isn't going to go soft on the wall - yet. For my two cents this is the best president you've had since Reagan.

I'm really interested to see if Trump can get this through the Senate as well. Nobody in Washington (Republican or Democrat) wanted the wall. The House has already passed it and if the Senate also passes it then we can conclude that the GOP has decided to stop fighting Trump. I.e. Mainstreet will have won out over the Chamber of Commerce.

But we'll have to see what happens.
