The World Series opens with the (televised) national anthem. All the players are standing, with their hands over their hearts.
The NFL doesn't allow the broadcasting of the national anthem. To ask why not is to answer the question.
Just another one to add to Tom Boswell's list.
The difference is based upon Geography and demographics. Football has evolved (rather quickly) into a sport dominated by persons of African descent who, no matter where their birthplace may have been, consider themselves first and foremost, Africans and assume that they are immediate descendants of slaves, despite the fact that there have been no slaves in this country for 152 years - or roughly 10 generations at the assumed breeding rate for that "race" of people.
ReplyDeleteBaseball on the other hand has evolved into a sport dominated by persons of Central American or Caribbean ancestry, again either "black" or mulatto if not pure Hispanic.
Bowling, on the other hand, remains a rather pure Caucasian sport.
