Library sales can be good sources, as can Half Price Books (both hit-or-miss, so you may need to haunt) if you have one nearby. The last library-sale haul netted me a nifty verse translation of Beowulf and Vol. II of The Gulag Archipelago. My last trip through HPB got me a 50th anniversary edition of Mauldin's Up Front and a trade paperback of Karnow's Vietnam: A History.
Not only do they work pretty much anywhere , they are practically indestructible, available at various price points.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the stores that previously sold them have mostly all disappeared.
I always want to hit up the used book stores. Hubby not so much.
ReplyDeleteBe safe and God bless.

ReplyDeleteLook for used bookstores when you travel. It's amazing what you can/might find!
