I rode across the Texas Panhandle, New Mexico and Arizona in December of 08. The temp droped to about 26 degrees and stayed there. I got held up in Santa Rosa NM due to snow. The following day was clear and dry but still cold.
I have to admit - I looked a good deal like the Stay Puff Marshmallow man. The Gerbins heated Jacket and Gloves were a blessing. I had my best rain gear on the outside - not for rain but for wind. 26 degrees at 60-70 mph is chilly!
Did a "Toys for Tots" ride at -12F once. Only9 of the 50 or so that were gonna do the ride showed.
ReplyDeleteFound every leak in my gear. Had trouble getting the bike started, but after that it was good.
Only time I willingly wore a helmet.
THe folks at the stops along the way were very accommodating and nice that day....
Ride safe out there! I've got a picture somewhere that my wife took of me riding to a toy run in the snow...
