If you'll forgive me for quoting Darth Vader, "It is useless to resist!" Seriously, that's how we wound up with our first dog. It took him a few years, but Little Brother finally wore my parents down and got them to give in. Trust me, it'll be a lot easier to just get it over with now than put up with years of begging, pleading, arguing, etc.
Maybe all she REALLY wants is some new shoes. LOTS of new shoes. Like Imelda, perchance? Because one thing golden retrievers are REALLY good at is chewing stuff. And once a pair of shoes gets too wet with dog slobber, well, are you REALLY going to try to make her wear them again? }:-]
Be prepared for slobber and shedding... EVERYWHERE!!! :-)
