Keeping the muzzle pointed in a safe direction since 2008
A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week. George S. Patton
How will will this exhortation fly with people who need safe spaces from a dissenting opinion? Even with most older people, I get odd looks when I tell them that I often play "What if" tactical assessments about places I go to. Yes, I was in the Army, but just four years, and in peacetime, so it's not like I have personal experience. But having any kind of plan for such an encounter is better than none. For people who have the emotional stance "This can't be happening to me", the idea of resistance is futile. As many others have pointed out, if you find yourself in an active-shooter situation in which flight is difficult, you might as well consider yourself dead. Then, any offensive action you take against that shooter can only improve your situation.
I live in the good sheriff's range, and his words and his actions do not match.Beware.
