I hate to be the one to break this to you, especially on Christmas day, but calling someone an "intellectual property thief" is a badge of honor on the Internet today, thanks in large part to the RIAA and MPAA. I expect his hit count has exploded since this took off.
What a meritless story. That said, there's a big difference between hotlinking still images, stealing still images (or even videos), and embedding YouTube videos. The ads in the video are controlled by Google, if enabled, and the revenue stream trickles to the originator, isn't it? Therefore, embedding is enabled by default. The owner of the video can switch it off.
