Maureen O'Hara

Maureen O'Hara passed away today. She was 95. Other than Miracle on 34th Street, I mostly remember her from her roles in movies with John Wayne.

Here's a clip I'm sure she be thrilled to be memorialized by. Not just spanked, spanked in front of a crowd with a coal shovel after being dumped in a horse trough. Classic acting by all involved.

Oddly enough, I don't think I've ever seen any of the pictures she did with John Wayne, at least not in their entirety. But How Green Was My Valley is a favorite of mine, as is The Black Swan. I have the latter on DVD, I'll have to dig it out and watch it later tonight.

Big John and Big Red....what an incredible on-screen pairing!

She didn't get small - the films did.

I know it's trite, but they sure don't make movies like this anymore....

Back in those days when men were men (instead of women) and women were women (instead of men), all of the guys wished they were John Wayne and the women wished that they were Maureen O'Hara.

We are all diminished by her passing.

One of my favorite John Wayne movies. They made the perfect couple in this movie.
