War It Is, Then

An exerpt from the ISIS declaration of war issued last Sunday:
“If you are not able to find an IED or a bullet, then single out the disbelieving American, Frenchman, or any of their allies. Smash his head with a rock, or slaughter him with a knife, or run him over with your car, or throw him down from a high place, or choke him, or poison him. Do not lack, do not be contemptible. Let your slogan be, ‘May I not be saved if the cross worshipper and taghūt patron survives.’”
Expect more attacks. We are at war. It does not take two sides to declare war, just one. All that remains is for the other side is to decide if they are fighting or surrendering.
“War is not merely justifiable, but imperative upon honorable men, upon an honorable nation, where peace can only be obtained by the sacrifice of conscientious conviction or of national welfare”
–Theodore Roosevelt

Guess you've forgotten all of those drone strikes, bombing raids, and advisers that have been sent to help out, perhaps?

Fighting or surrendering. Third option: ignoring. Iran has been at war with us for the past 40 years. We simply ignore them and we can aford to because so far their strikes at us have been pin pricks.

Iraq was at war with us for over ten years and we ignored them before we brought down their government.

When your enemy is a flea, you can afford to ignore them. When your enemy is the village idiot, it is wise to ignore them. Only when your enemy gains the ability to do you harm are you faced with the need to fight. And fortunatly for us, Iran will never have that ability. They signed a "deal" (not a treaty that needs Senate approval). And everyone knows you don't break a deal.

I'm, quite obviously, not in favor of ignoring.
