The US Army's official strategy for dealing with active shooters is either "run and hide" or "cower in place". Here at the Pentagon, we are expected to use the second one, since running will just get us in the way of the thousands of "first" responders who will show up. Lucky for me the risk of being attacked here is near zero. I am more likely to die or be injured in traffic on my way to work. While at work, the biggest risk is security forces over-reacting to a non-threatening situation and killing someone, "for their own protection".
And now the Army is telling their people that the civilians who have stepped up to do what they won't let their own people do should be considered "security threats".It's almost like they want to encourage more attacks.
