I got to see the King play in Albuquerque several years ago - 2003 was it? Wasn't in his prime anymore, but was still worth every penny to see him perform.
Or as I hear somewhere... The King is gone, but the Thrill goes on...
I was in West Marine on Friday and they were playing some B.B. King, I asked the kid who was cutting some rope for me (yes, it is rope until it crosses the gunwales, then it becomes line, most likely a specific line, halyard, sheet, dockline... I digress).
Anyroad, the kid had no idea who was making that guitar wail...
B.B. King knew exactly where to put the notes. He didn't need a lot of notes, just the right ones. In the right place. Didn't someone once say, "It isn't the just the notes, it's the pauses." King knew exactly what that meant.
Glad we had him for so long. Long may his music live.
