B.A.G. Day

Today, in homage to Tax Day, is B.A.G Day.

If you participated, leave your 2015 selection in the comments. If you couldn't afford a new gat or just have so many you push them off the sofa to have a place to sit down, then take your favorite to the range and get some practice.

Here's one of my favorites, back when it still looked sorta new.

I completely forgot today was BAG Day, but I picked up my new (to me) Browning BDM yesterday. I wanted a CZ-75 but it was going to be October before my local shop could get one. This way I saved a couple hundred bucks and got to scratch that itch six months sooner.

I too forgot it was BAG day but I did have my friendly FFL dealer order me a Glock 17 Gen 4 today.

Bought a Henry in .357 (finally)from Gunbroker- that didn't cost the SRP, but due to the fact that I worked 13 1/2 hours today- couldn't pick it up.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so I can make the 90 mile round trip.

I didn't do it quite intentionally, but I snagged a 1956-vintage Ithaca 37 12ga, which is in need of some TLC and refinishing ... and it will get those, in spades, along with a trim job and a tax stamp.

Smith & Wesson SD9VE. Note .... This gun is NOT a Sigma. Still has the hortible MA-compliant trigger, though. Paid $289-new.

so I have never actually BAG on BAG day...

I do every year buy a gun with my tax return, but since I am always expecting a significant return (I know interest free loan to the govt, but we screwed it up one year and had to pay which was much worse for me personally) I always file as early as feasible.

This year I scored a very nice used Fausti field model 1 12 gauge over under from a pawn shop on sight, and built my first AR (palmetto state armory parts) a 16" midlength gas system stainless light profile barrel, with all the magpul MOE goodies in FDE (not a fan of FDE, but the prices were right).

Last year was a Hi-Point 4595 carbine, and my Rossi 1892 in 44mag...

I know BAG Day is April 15th, but I cut some slack on either side, because sometimes you can't get to the gun store during the work week.

Anyway, I went to Tulsa with a friend over the weekend and found a very nice Remington Nylon 66. This is one of my Holy Grail guns from my childhood; I'm planning to do a longer blog entry about it once things settle down a bit and I have time to take photos and pull research together.

Picked up my new old Winchester 1892 in 218 Bee made in 1903. It was originally a 25-20 but was converted to 218 Bee sometime in the distant past. Now to find some bullets to feed it!
