Ouch

I think I'm going to set off the metal detector at the airport.

  1. It depends. I have a big chunk of titanium and it doesn't trip metal detectors. It shows up nicely on the perv-o-scan, though.

  2. Obama medicine; they actually spliced in a chunk of handlebar from the wrecked Harley.

  3. Strangely enough, my titaniums shows up when wanded, but not in the walk-through metal detectors.

  4. Uh... that looks like the thingy I used to mend the handrail going down to the basement...

  5. Carry an LED-lit electromagnet with you and tell them...

    I AM Ironman!

Seriously, though - good luck with the healing.

  6. If you truly HAVE to go through the airport, favor the OTHER side of the magnetometers as you walk through. For that small amount of metal, a slight increase in distance MAY be sufficient. I have a metal plate with seven screws and two staples in my right ankle, and had no problems as long as I stayed to the left as I went through the magnetometer.

Of course, I haven't bothered to fly since they started their latest treason, so your mileage may vary. My bet, however, is that it does not.

Bet the titanium one didn't cost $198
at the hardware store! The endo-button in my elbow was $1,000+. About the size of a cabinet hinge. You want to really get a shock, demand an itemized list of your hospital bill.

  8. I have more than that in my right foot, yet it hasn't been a problem (and I'm told this is normal so long as Titanium is used).

Dentists may freak out anytime they have to work on your teeth though. I did not understand that going in.

  9. Welcome to the club. I set the detectors off all the time at most any building that has them set low enough to be more than an mere visible deterrent (and a shocking number of them aren't). It can be fun if you "play dumb" and make them figure it out.
