Owww, Oh Owww

It's called MOHS surgery. In my case it was for basil cell carcinoma. Really a tiny dot, I didn't wait, I went in to the dermatologist as soon as I was sure that whatever it was wasn't healing.

Start from something just a little bigger than the size of a period. Cut a round hole you could put a shotgun primer in. Check the margins to be sure, then cut a wedge across the nose, loosen the skin from the underlying meat on either side of the wedge cut and stitch it shut. Supposed to heal nicely with minimal scarring.

In the meantime, today was the day the first bandage could be removed, so I took you a picture.

Chin up with the healing. My wife had a basal cell carcinoma removed from her cheek near her nose. I healed up so well, you'd never know now.

Meantime, heck of a pirate picture! Seriously, though, a lot of our patients have had this done, and it really does heal up nicely.

I guess we should all be grateful you didn't have a pilondial cyst.

I hope it heals quickly.

Had one of those removed just below my left eye. For awhile it gave me lots of "street cred" and then the scar disappeared. Work it while you can!

Damn- well, for the next week or two, you can claim NHL street cred.

Also, I blame Sherm for traumatizing one of my crewmen, who saw the result of my google search for 'pilondial cyst' and had to leave the room.

I looked up pilondial cyst. I did. Like the LOLCAT says, "That which has been seen cannot be unseen."
