Hack the coffee pot!

Who knew that Keurig had DRM (Digital Rights Management) in their little cups?  Derek Ward shows us that their DRF-fu is weak.

Coffee wants to be free, dude! Or at least less expensive.

  1. This is only necessary on the new pots. The old pots will continue to use whatever you put in them... until they stop working, of course.

I wonder if anyone has managed to coax more than a couple of years out of a Keurig...

  2. Um... if you want cheap coffee, why are you buying the single serve special stuff?

  3. I suppose in the Internet of Things, a hacked Keurig machine will report its owner to the Bureau.

  4. I bought the top of the line Keurig for my wife about 8 years ago for a Christmas gift. She was furious I had spent close to $400 on a coffee pot. By the end of January she thought that was the best gift I had ever given her. That same unit it working just as well as it did the day I bought it. She drinks all of the fu-fu coffee flovors and I have the "make-your-own" insert so I can have my Bustello.

At work we had had one of the cheaper units burn up. The Keurig warranty is top notch and they sent a replacement to an APO once they received the cup insert. It was 3 long weeks without good coffee unless we made the 2 kilometer walk to the Green Bean coffee house.
