Do You Feel Lucky?

Every gun is loaded. Every one. All the time.

Never let the muzzle cover anything you're not willing to destroy.

A 16 year old in Michigan learned this lesson for himself a couple of days ago. His 21 year old brother is dead.

"Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety Deputy Director Jon Johnston tells the Jackson Citizen Patriot in an email that the younger brother went into his brother's room Saturday night and reportedly asked "Do you feel lucky?" before pulling the trigger."

"Accidentally shot"? No.

Still a shame in every way.

My parents taught us that at the age of 12. They taught us a whole bunch of other stuff apparently this kids parent''s failed to do as well. A tragedy all the way around.

A tragedy for the family. I could see this happening in a household that doesnt have firearms as a subject.

Here, my 6 year old understands the 4 rules, and I quiz her on it. Her older sister (10) is more fluent with firearms overall, and HAD to be before she went to the range the first time or in the field.

This is more of the reason why its important to teach gun safety. Guns exist. We teach awareness and prevention of STDs, we should teach kids basic gun safety as well.
