So I've been off the grid, and my posting shows it. I've been in training for a trip to Panama City Beach at the end of the month for the motorcycle rally. I've done nearly 300 miles this weekend, which is good practice for the 350 or so miles to PCB.
Ouch. I'm looking at an Ibuprofin cocktail ...
So heads up - anyone want to meet up in PCB at the rally? It's between October 1 and 5. Leave a comment if you think it could be a good time. And how cool would this be, painted on the bike or a helmet (or a patch for a jacket)?
After a little self-pitying moaning, I'll get back to the regular blogging schedule.

ReplyDeleteYou should have gotten the Harley...
ReplyDeleteWith the Electra Glide I can make it from Suwanee to Daytona in 8 & 1/2 hours (485 miles) with less aches than driving my truck.
Get some Monkey Butt powder and use liberally. Go commando, the seams in your underwear can be uncomfortable after 5 hours in the saddle and will leave lines on your bum. Wear riding pants - there are no seams or pockets on the backside (for the same reason as commando).
Good luck on your trip.
Great graphic....
ReplyDelete@Tony T^2 don't forget the cornstarch or medicated talcum powder. But, pun intended, I like a 1/4 inch of memory foam in my defenders when I did iron butt rides (like Atlanta to DFW nonstop, uggh 10 hours never again but I was young and in deep -lust- err love back in those days.

ReplyDeleteVery cool that you are coming down for Thunder Beach. If I'm in town I'd love to buy the legendary Borepatch* a beer and show him the good hole in the wall seafood joints, but I will probably be out of town for work.
ReplyDelete*But not according to spell checker.
We'll always wait for quality!

As you already know I'm Shanghai'd until 10/14.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're getting practice as you will need it when I return-

Go commando? Monkey butt powder for a 350 mile ride?
ReplyDeleteFirst 350 isn't even remotely far. Second, they make underwear for motorcycle use to eliminate the seam problem. Both Wickers and LDComfort do that.
Real motorcycle gear, wicking underwear, and a sheepskin buttpad (Alaska Leather makes nice ones) resolves most issues with long distance riding. If your seat really sucks (since they design stock seats to look nice, and feel comfortable when you straddle the bike in the showroom), either a Sargent or a Corbin should cover you the rest of the way
BTW, I'm being very literal about "either a Sargent or a Corbin". One will feel awesome and the other will probably feel like a torture device. Your butt is shaped for one or the other. Rarely does someone like both.
The graphic would not be out of place in Menlo Park or Palo Alto - just terribly scary to the anointed acolytes. But Halloween is coming!
